Deacon Bobby Smith

Usher Ministry, President

Deacon Bobby Smith, known as Bob, is the fourth child out six children born to the late Mr. Vernon and Mrs. Della Smith of Lyman, SC. Having been born in a loving home, Deac. Smith learned at an early age the meaning of giving and caring about his fellow man. Deacon Smith has numerous accomplishments in his life. He graduated from Florence Chapel High School in 1963 and he attended Rutledge College in Spartanburg, SC majoring in Business Administration. He is a United States Air Force Veteran where he served his country for 4 years. He also worked as the Shift Coordinator in Greenville, SC at the General Electric Plant for 36 years.

Deacon Smith has been married for 46 years to the former Betty Jones of Jersey City, New Jersey and from this union they have 2 children and 7 grandchildren.

Deacon Smith believes in his civil responsibilities. He is a life-time blood donor at the Blood Bank, he mentors students at James F. Byrnes High School, he is a Hospice volunteer with the Spartanburg Regional Hospital System, and Deacon Smith is also a member of the Us TOO Support Organization.

Deacon Smith is Chairman of the Deacon Board at New Trinity Baptist Church, where he works closely with the Pastor. He is the President of the All Male Usher Board at his church. Also, Deac. Smith is the President of the Usher Ministry for the Spartanburg County Baptist Association.

Foremost, Deacon Bobby Smith is a man of God who believes in not only saying that he a born again Christian but who also shares the gospel of the Lord wherever he goes and loves the Lord with all of his heart.

Usher Ministry's Mandate:

Psalm 84-10 "For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness."

The SCBA Usher Ministry encourages all church ushers to come aboard on unite with the Association for the advancement of God's Kingdom.
